At Individual Restaurants we are proud of our award-winning people. Here’s why….
Piccolino Development Chef, Francesco Scafuri, has scooped two awards at a prestigious competition in London.
For the third consecutive year, Francesco has been awarded medals competing in Salon Culinaire, the world-class culinary competition.
He took silver in the Senior Pasta Master class Competition, for his spicy beef and foie gras ravioli and was awarded bronze in the New Zealand Lamb Challenge for his pearl barley risotto.
The annual event has been established as the definitive event for chef’s, with some of the industry’s best known faces travelling from all over Europe to compete. Francesco explains: “Obviously I always enter aiming to win gold, but getting a silver and bronze medal is fantastic.
It is a hard competition because it attracts the best chefs from around Europe and there is always loads of big names, from Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants, Marcus Wareing’s and Claridges.
My passion for cooking is why I get up in the morning. I like being challenged and I am constantly striving to achieve more and more.”
Before joining Individual Restaurants in 2010, Francesco earned his credentials at some of the world’s best restaurants and hotels including, the Savoy in Naples, Purnells in Birmingham and San Pietro in Positano. With a wealth of experience under his belt, he is confident he has worked out the secret to creating an award winning dish.
He said: “I don’t try too hard to do anything fancy. The secret is making simple food that’s packed with flavour and nicely presented.”
